Just like the saying, “there’s an app for that,” if you aren’t sure if there are careers or experiences to qualify you for post graduation, remember “BYU has an office for that.”
The resources listed below are catered toward our current student population - and really only touch on the surface of what is offered at BYU.

Career Services
BYU Career Services will help you explore career options, discover your strengths, find a job or internship, revise and refine resumes and cover letters, strengthen your interview skills, and connect you to career-focused events on campus.

Experiential Learning & Internships
BYU believes that students should participate and engage in multiple experiences outside of coursework in order to be prepared for multiple facets of life. American philosopher, John Dewey said, “there is an intimate and necessary relation between the processes of actual experience and education.” Experiential Learning is “the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. Knowledge results from the combinations of grasping and transforming experience” (David Kolb, 1984). The Experiential Learning & Internships office is poised to help students understand the value of experiences as it relates to post-graduation opportunities.
Faculty Mentors
Guests panelists talk about the value of mentorship in their journeys to success post graduation. Faculty in each department are assigned to students. If you aren’t sure who your faculty mentor is, reach out to your individual department. We often hear faculty say, “I have office hours, but none of my students come by.” Faculty at BYU are dedicated to their students. If you share an interest, or really feel a connection to one of your professors, start a conversation.
FHSS Internship Offices and Information
Guest panelists have talked about the value of experiential learning in helping students qualify for post-graduation opportunities. Employers and the university believe that one of the best things you can do to prepare for and be qualified for the job of your choice is to do an internship, which is why each department in Family, Home, and Social Sciences has an internship process and representative.
